"Boil water notice affecting around 20,000 West Travis County PUA Public Water System customers" KVUE's None – A boil water notice is no effect for customers using the West Travis County Public Utility Agency (WTCPUA) Public Water System.

In an update Wednesday morning, the Bee Cave-based  company said the notice has been lifted after taking "necessary corrective actions" to bring water quality back to normal.

The notice was issued on Tuesday after the WTCPUA said its filtered water's turbidity levels were higher than the limit set in Texas and nationwide. High turbidity levels can increase the likelihood of sickness, sometimes making it harder to kill organisms. The company said the filters might've also been underperforming.

The Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ) ordered the boil water notice as a precaution, and the WTCPUA submitted water samples on Tuesday for testing.

The boil water notice impacted the entire WTCPUA service area, which includes around 20,000 customers.

"Southwestern University to open 2 new residence halls by spring 2026" Community Impact | News's Gracie Warhurst – Two new residence halls at Southwestern University will be completed in time to house students in spring 2026, according to a university news release.

Jessie Daniel Ames Hall is the new first-year residence hall, located in the eastern part of campus near the new Dorothy Perry White Welcome Center.

The new Ella Sedwick Hall second-year residence hall is next to the McCombs Campus Center.

Both are slated to wrap up construction in December.

Jessie Daniel Ames Hall is named after the 1902 SU graduate, who is known for women’s suffrage and anti-lynching activism, the news release states.

Ella Sedwick Hall honors the longtime SU food service worker who has been a part of the university for more than 25 years, and is known on campus for her dedication and service.

"Suspect with multiple felony warrants in custody after SWAT situation in East Austin" via KEYE – A SWAT situation involving the Austin Police Department in East Austin on Tuesday night has ended peacefully, with the barricaded subject taken into custody without incident.

The incident took place near the 7500 block of Compass Dr. and began when officers conducting surveillance on a man with multiple felony warrants saw him enter a residence.

According to APD Public Information Officer Aaron Townsend, officers attempted to make contact with the man to arrest him, but he did not respond, prompting a SWAT callout around 6 p.m.

The standoff lasted approximately two hours, with the subject surrendering to SWAT officers around 8:05 p.m.

"No injuries, nobody was hurt in this at all," Townsend said. "Everything went just fine, and the subject is currently in custody."

The man, identified only as an adult male, had three felony warrants.
Police say there is no threat to the public.

"Travis County man sentenced to 18 years for burglary with intent to commit sexual assault" KVUE's NoneRoberto Diggs-Powell was found guilty on Friday, Nov. 21, following a weeklong trial, the DA's office said.

A Travis County man has been convicted of burglary of a habitation with intent to commit sexual assault, the Travis County District Attorney’s Office announced Tuesday.

A jury found Roberto Diggs-Powell, 41, guilty on Friday, Nov. 21, following a weeklong trial. Jury selection began Nov. 17, testimony started Nov. 19, and deliberations began Nov. 21.

Diggs-Powell was sentenced to 18 years in the Texas Department of Criminal Justice.

He was arrested on Aug. 4, 2024, and charged with burglary with intent to commit sexual assault in connection with a crime that happened the same day. The DA's office said he was re-indicted on Oct. 16, 2025, on charges of burglary of a habitation with intent to commit sexual assault, burglary of a habitation and attempted sexual assault.

"Stolen Hyundai Elantras from Austin recovered after pursuits in Manor; drivers arrested" FOX 7 Austin's None – Two drivers were arrested for stealing cars from Austin and then leading law enforcement officers on a pursuit.

Manor police said the two separate incidents happened only minutes from each other and each involved stolen Hyundai Elantras.

Manor police said on Nov. 25, around 1:54 a.m., officers received an alert from a license plate reader program about a stolen car entering Manor. The Hyundai Elantra was reported stolen from Austin.

Officers found the car after it entered the Shadowglen subdivision in Manor. The driver then led officers on a pursuit which then ended at the Tesla Gigafactory. The driver then ran away.

Later, the driver was found and arrested. He was identified as a 17-year-old from Austin. Police said the teen was well known to law enforcement for similar incidents and had an outstanding warrant.

During the first pursuit, another alert came in about another stolen Hyundai Elantra, from Austin, entering Manor. Officers found the car and the driver also led officers on a pursuit into downtown Austin.

The driver was later found, and the stolen car was recovered.

"Holiday safety: Austin police offer tips ahead of shopping season" via FOX 7 Austin – The Austin Police Department is offering tips for people to stay safe during the holidays.

APD says vehicle crimes tend to escalate in popular shopping areas all over town this time of year, but the crime is preventable.

Thieves target shopping malls, apartment complexes, convenience stores, and any parking facilities, including residential driveways.

Items stolen include laptop computers, purses, wallets, cell phones, cameras, credit cards, GPS systems, radios, and other items left in plain view.

You're asked to always lock your vehicle and take all your keys.

Leave no valuables in plain sight and follow these tips:

Prioritize shopping – If you are going out shopping and you know, you are going to buy a large, expensive item, try to make that purchase last, so you don’t have to leave it in your vehicle while shopping elsewhere.

Don’t leave valuables or even anything perceived as valuable in plain view such as empty purses and laptop bags, mail, phone chargers, etc. If it appears to have value, hide it or remove it from your vehicle.

Lock Your Car and take your keys.
