TOP NEWS
"Austin synagogue vandalized with swastika, antisemitic graffiti" via AAS – Antisemitic graffiti was found at a central Austin synagogue on Thursday, according to the Anti-Defamation League.
Congregation Beth Israel in the Hyde Park area was vandalized with a swastika alongside the phrase “Death to Israel.” In a statement, ADL Austin Regional Director Jackie Nirenberg said the organization is working with the synagogue and security partners in response to the incident.
“The targeting of Austin’s Jewish community — or of any community — with hate is never acceptable,” Nirenberg said. “This incident comes on the heels of an alleged threat against a synagogue in Houston earlier this week. We call on communities across Texas to stand up to antisemitism and make clear there is no place for hate.”
The Austin vandalism came around the time authorities announced arrests in an alleged plot targeting Congregation Beth Israel in Houston, where an 18-year-old North Carolina woman and a 16-year-old Houston-area teen were accused of conspiring to attack the synagogue. (AAS)
